How can I create a model that changes the perception of veterinary technicians?
South Hall Vet
My name is Angel Olvera and I currently am enrolled in West Hall High School. I hope to become a veterinarian one day, and I joined the Honors Mentor-ship program to gain some hands on experience. I learn something new everyday under the supervision of Dr. Townshend at her veterinary clinic facility. I always clean and try to help the staff with their usual morning duties. We await Dr. Townshend's arrival and prepare the equipment to begin surgeries. I have observed many operations and also appreciate how the doctors explain the procedures to me each time. In addition, I value Dr. Townhsend's aspiration for my educational success. I truly admire her guidance and am grateful to have her as my mentor. My involvement at South Hall Vet has definitely been a rewarding process so far. I know that much of what I learned and will continue learning at this facility will surely benefit me in the future as I pursue my dreams.
Abstract
The purpose of my research is to outline and understand the essential role that veterinary technicians play within an animal hospital. Their presence is crucial for the continuing productivity and treatment of all the patients. With the information I take in I will be able to clearly explain to others what responsibilities veterinary technicians hold. After conducting my own survey I clearly observed that many individuals were confused with what a veterinary technician does in the office. The information also allows people like myself who dream to become veterinarians to understand the types of other professions they will be working alongside with. Every day there needs to be clear communication between every staff member especially a Veterinarian and a veterinary technician. These individuals are interacting during operations or when instructions are being given to providing proper treatment. It is also important to understand that over time many professions often change. It is evident that you take the time to see what other types of workers you will be surrounded with are doing. This is to maximize their use, abilities, and skills for providing better results.
